FAQs

Why do you only focus on women’s health?

Whilst there are many areas of health that have similarities between men and women, there are also many ways that we are unique, in part because of our physiology (the way our body’s work), which means the symptoms we experience, the things that make us more likely to get the disease and how well we do with it, can often be different to men. It isn’t just about our physiology; historic biases within healthcare, research and funding, which have kept us from finding out more about the female body, as well as socioeconomic and political factors that disproportionately affect women and make us sick or makes care difficult to access are also to blame. Men’s health absolutely matters, but it’s important for women to have a space to explore their understanding of the unique workings of their own bodies. If there is something that you think would be relevant and resonate with the men in your life though, please do share it.

How often will content be uploaded?

We will be uploading articles at least once per week, with additional long form videos and podcasts every month. Do sign up to the newsletter so that you are alerted to new content. For short form content, follow us on our social media channels.

Where else can I find additional health information?

It’s important to us at TWH that this platform exists not only to provide information, but to help signpost you to other reputable sources of information, so that you have all the resources you need in one place. At the end of each article, video or podcast, you will find external resources that will help you explore each topic in more detail or to provide you with support.

If a piece of information resonates with my own situation, what should I do?

If it is to do with a medical issue, please take the article to your doctor or health professional and use it as a basis for a discussion. I explain how to do this in the article “How to advocate for yourself with your doctor”. It may be that your personal medical history means that something mentioned is not relevant or appropriate to your specific case but understanding why and having a discussion regarding alternatives might be very helpful too.

If there is a topic I am interested in that doesn’t feature in the available content, what should I do?

Please contact us! We’d love to hear what you would like to see more of on the platform.
